My story
Growing up, I faced significant challenges with self-esteem and mental health. Throughout my teenage years I faced struggles with depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and self-harm. During my second year of high school, my mental state deteriorated to the point where I became bedridden.
While away from school, I spent most of my time alone, either training, binge-watching TV shows, or sleeping. Each day, I sought ways to escape my mind.
A few months into my sick leave, I stumbled upon a video about powerlifting. Until then, I had only engaged in recreational strength training. The idea of having a tangible goal to pursue really fascinated me, and lifting heavy barbells had always been the highlight of my workouts.
A few weeks later, I joined my local powerlifting club. Three months after that, I competed at my first powerlifting meet. Despite extreme nervousness and a lack of self-belief, I felt a compelling urge to commit and go through with it. After the competition, I realized that powerlifting was exactly what I had been desperately searching for. For the first time in a very long time, I felt a sense of purpose and achievement.
From that day on, I promised myself that I would do everything necessary to become the best.
A lot has happened since I set that goal 6 years ago. Now I’m a world champion, world record holder, public speaker and a full time coach. Something that I never would’ve imagined myself to be this early in my carreer.
Powerlifting has taught me to become disciplined, daring, a self believer and to never give up on myself. I’ve learned that there’s always a reason to keep fighting. Whether it’s for a world championship title, your first meet or to just keep going one more day. It’s all about becoming stronger than you were before. Both mentally and physically.
Purpose & Goal
After my victory at the Junior World Championships in 2022, I made a promise to myself: to help and inspire people to become stronger versions of themselves. One of the ways I fulfill this promise is through coaching.
In addition to creating individualized programs and build physical strength, I put a lot of effort in to cultivating an elite athletes mindset amongst my athletes.
As a world champion powerlifter, I understand the demands of pursuing lofty goals. I know how challenging and lonely it can be when the odds seem against you, and I'm here to support you through every trial and tribulation. I will be your comprehensive guide, helping you reach your powerlifting goals.
I also understand the profound reward of reaching the finish line and the transformative effect it has beyond just achieving the goal itself. It shapes you into a stronger version of yourself in every possible way.
My goal as a coach is to make you a stronger individual, not just a stronger athlete. I strive to make an impact that goes beyond powerlifting.
Training philosphy
Master the basics
I firmly believe in mastering simplicity and ensuring your technique becomes second nature. This consistency in training builds confidence in your abilities, so when you're in high-pressure situations, like a max attempt at a competition, you can perform with ease.
Communication
Effective communication between athlete and coach is crucial. It builds trust and makes it easier to troubleshoot any issues that may arise along the way. Good communication helps us discover what works best for you, the athlete. Paving the way to success smoothly and efficiently!
Cultivating an elite athlete’s mindset
Having an elite athlete’s mindset is about controlling the variables. It’s about doing everything YOU can do to set yourself up for success. It also means being able to roll with the punches and when things outside of your control don’t go your way. Being able to recalibrate and focus solely on your internal factors is an art in itself. One that can take you very far.
Trust the process & reap the fruits of your labor
Training is not a linear progression; you'll encounter road bumps along the way. And it’s nothing to worry about, because it's a part of the process! One of the things that sets successful lifters apart is their ability to trust the process and make smart decisions together with their coach that aligns with the long term goal. Making drastic changes for short-term gains can backfire in the long run. Smart decision-making and trusting the plan are key to winning the long marathon that powerlifting is!
